Cars are oversized. People are oversized. Americans really dress like slobs in restaurants. <--I am an old coot. On the plus side, service is really good.
eat more fiber, the toilet flush volumes will get better. =) Personal experience chez nous has proven this.
I concur with the gigantism effects on furniture, et al. It's American excess.
SOME service is good.. some service is outright Terrible. It depends on the venue, the management, and as I have stated earlier, IF the employees are happy & motivated. If they ain't, then the service will suck.

furniture is oversized!
we sought a couch, and ended up ordering a loveseat, as 2010 couches are far too big for 1900-era living rooms.
And yet, toilet flush volumes are far too small.
