Very nearly a sci-fi classic. What a pretty film. Stabs itself in the foot at the end when it turns into Event Horizon. Completely unnecessary. Still worth viewing, though.
is it the 1999 ralph fiennes film called "A Napfény íze / Sunshine - Ein Hauch von Sonnenschein", or the 2007 film called "Les derniers rayons du soleil"?
"re-ignite the dying sun" .... ? I'll not judge it until I watch it. I re-watched Full Metal Jacket the other day on Netflix, and REALIZED how many cliche's that film embodies.
It's not so much *about* the premise -- i.e. it doesn't depend on the premise being excellent in order to excel as a movie. That's pretty much true of any movie. That said, the premise isn't as far-fetched as it sounds, at least not according to research noted in Ebert's review: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070719/REVIEWS/70702003/1023
In any case, it works well as a character study, and only goes off the rails when it stops trusting that that's enough.
seems there are 2 movies with the title Sunshine.
