We were woken up by the cat jumping onto the bed, walking across us, and hunkering down into a sphinx position, purring loudly the whole time. I was just getting back to sleep a while later when I realized we don't have a cat.
The back door had been open earlier in the day but closed for many hours. It probably got in that way and had been sneaking about the house for a while. Or had come in a window but the windows with easy access had all been long closed.

Stranger cat. I shooed it out of the house but left some water & tuna for it on the patio.
