Adverbs: Comedy Gold

In the annual Parts of Speech Awards, I think adverb would win "Funniest" almost every year. Maybe a year with an enormous amount of noun verbing would be an exception. In that case, would it go to noun or verb? It if leads to a backstage fight, we can rest assured adverb would be there to separate them.

My vote goes to the gerund. This seems to be the current way of creating words or ignoring existing words because it isn't cool enough. Apparently football players (both NFL and UEFA) are defensing the goal rather than defending. New word, gerunding, the process of verbitizing a noun.

In Alaska and on the stump Steve, it would be "creatin", "ignorin", "existin", "gerundin", "defensin", "defendin" and "verbitizin". I'll leave my antecedent un-named, in this case. Thank my 'lucky stars and garters' that we won't have to worry about that for another 3 or so years at least. ...not sure how a intellectual blue furry super-hero wears garters though.
